Bio-signals – electromyography, motion capture, ultrasound, magnetic tracking, inertial measurement, and more – are key to providing optimal control of assistive devices for patients. However, these signals are often unstable, badly conditioned, unreliable, and variable over time. The following points will be discussed:
– How do we tackle these challenges with known signal types?
– What novel sensors and approaches are currently being explored?
